Welcome to Little Oaks’ Page!
At Greenway Primary School, our Specialist Resource Base (SRB) provides a personalised and engaging curriculum that is tailored to each child’s individual needs, strengths and stage of development. We place communication, emotional well-being, physical development and independence at the heart of learning, helping every child to make progress in a way that is meaningful to them.
Throughout the year, both SRB classes follow the same six learning themes, providing consistency across the provision while ensuring access to a broad range of experiences. Activities are carefully adapted to match each child’s interests, abilities and developmental needs, ensuring learning is accessible, motivating and relevant. We work closely with families by sharing regular updates and photographs through our online learning platform, celebrating each child’s achievements and learning journey.
Autumn 1- Me, Myself and I

This half term, our topic is ‘Me, Myself and I’, which has been carefully designed to help children develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Through a range of engaging, practical and sensory-rich learning experiences, the children will explore their own identities, including their personal characteristics, likes and dislikes, family relationships and the things that make them unique.
Throughout the topic, children will have opportunities to learn about personal appearance, recognise similarities and differences between themselves and others, and develop a greater appreciation of the people who are important in their lives. A key focus will be supporting children to identify, understand and communicate their feelings and emotions, while also learning to recognise and respond appropriately to the emotions of others.
The children will take part in a variety of creative, interactive and play-based activities that encourage self-expression, communication and social interaction. These experiences will help to build self-awareness, confidence and emotional literacy, while fostering positive relationships with peers and adults. By exploring themes of identity, belonging and wellbeing, we aim to support each child in developing a strong sense of self and a growing understanding of the feelings, perspectives and experiences of those around them.
Outdoor learning
We love outdoor learning! Below are some pictures of when we had to make a face using natural items. They look great!

We worked collaboratively as a team to build an outdoor den. The children selected the materials independently and worked together to problem-solve, exploring the most effective ways to construct the den using the resources available to them.

In this outdoor task we had to find the letters of our names and put them in the right order

Each afternoon, we take part in activities that develop both fine and gross motor skills. The children enjoy applying these skills during construction activities, where they can design and build their own creations. These sessions also provide valuable opportunities for children to develop their communication skills by discussing their ideas, describing what they have made, and following instructions.

Play is a vital part of our curriculum, supporting the development of communication, social interaction, exploration, imagination, and turn-taking skills. Through play, children learn to collaborate with others, solve problems, and make sense of the world around them. We are fortunate to have a wide range of spaces and resources available, enabling children to engage in a variety of meaningful play experiences that reflect their interests, strengths, and developmental needs.
