This term, Year 5 have been exploring the fascinating and thought-provoking topic of ‘World at War’. The pupils have taken an active role in shaping their learning and have chosen a range of exciting activities and challenges to help bring the topic to life.

Throughout the term, the children have been developing their knowledge and understanding through a variety of creative, practical and collaborative experiences. They have explored what life was like for people during World War One and World War Two, as well as learning about more recent conflicts and the importance of peace, cooperation and understanding.

Through our ‘World at War’ topic, Year 5 are developing their historical knowledge while also thinking about courage, teamwork, resilience, empathy and the importance of peace. Most importantly, the children are learning to ask questions, consider different perspectives and understand how events from the past and present can shape the world around us.
