The corridor outside Year 2 was transformed into a gallery last week as children displayed the artwork they have been creating throughout the spring term. Inspired by the vibrant colours and bold shapes of Henri Matisse, the pieces ranged from cut-paper collages to mixed-media paintings and printed textiles.
Parents were invited in for a gallery viewing during the final afternoon of the week, and the children acted as guides – explaining their work, the techniques they had used, and what they had learned about Matisse’s life and style. Many parents expressed genuine surprise at the quality and thoughtfulness of the work on display.
“We were so proud to show our paintings,” said Theo, aged 7. “Mine is the one with the green leaves and the yellow fish.”
The artwork will remain on display for the rest of half-term. A special thank you to our art lead for guiding the children through such an inspiring project.
